Disaster Kit Supplies
A one-stop-shop for all your disaster kit needs! HDRS is pleased to provide its customers in libraries, archives, record offices and museums throughout the UK and Ireland with a convenient solution to sourcing supplies for their disaster kits.
There are various items which we recommend you have available to your library or archive to facilitate disaster recovery after a small incident, and to provide basic equipment to begin assessment and salvage after a major incident. We have categorised items into key categories - notably health and safety, damaged materials handling equipment and so on. Furthermore, some items may only be required for those libraries / archives with antiquarian material e.g. crepe bandaging.
Some institutions will already have some equipment readily available to it through their Facilities department etc -e.g. wet vacs, polythene sheeting etc. Provided that you have 24-hour access to this equipment and can commandeer it if necessary, HDRS would not recommend you spend a great deal on these items unnecessarily. We have also indicated where items are most easily purchased from a local supermarket (mops, buckets etc) we have indicated this.
